The Boat

The brand new White Manta is a Rina Class vessel designed with safety and stability in mind to ensure a comfortable journey; 46m long with ample room for relaxation, a dedicated camera room, a well appointed dive deck, and air conditioning throughout the living areas.

We will be limiting capacity to 22 passengers.

Diving: Currents may vary greatly in Raja Ampat, and the White Manta crew believes intermediate to advanced divers will get the most from this trip. Water Temperatures in Raja Ampat are quite comfortable with an average of 84 F.

November in Raja Ampat is the dry season, signaling calmer wind and sea conditions. For photographers, keep in mind that deep water upwellings this time of year may cloud visibility. However, the nutrient enriched seas also attract giant Manta to cleaning stations in Misool and encourage sharks to gather for mating. The variety of topography and overwhelming abundance of the reefs makes Raja ampat a unique destination to experience exceptional biodiversity from large to small. Something for everyone!

Getting there: There are no direct flights from the USA to Indonesia. However, most major US hubs have convenient itineraries to Jakarta that include at least one layover (through cities like Taipei, Seoul, or Singapore). Expect a long haul flight averaging 800-1000+ USD round trip. After overnighting at least one day at your port of entry, fly to Sorong via several domestic airlines (about 250 USD roundtrip). A member of the crew will pick you up from your airport or hotel on the day of embarkation in Sorong and transport you directly to the boat.

  • We partner with an Indonesian agent who can assist you with domestic flight plans for a small fee.

Side trips: There is so much to explore, from hanging out with monkeys in a sacred forest or visiting beautiful temples and rice terraces, taking a ride along the beach to see the kites fly or relaxing at the spa. Of course, Indonesia also has countless diving destinations, from serious muck to spectacular drifts, so your vacation can be as relaxed or exciting as you want it to be.

Currency: Indonesian Rupiah

VISA: A VOA (Visa on Arrival) valid for 60 days can be obtained at the airport for 35 (USD) and is available to the USA, Canada, EU and Mexico.

HEALTH: At this time, there are no Covid restrictions for travelers arriving in Indonesia. Please be aware that the liveaboard has its own requirements, including the carry and use of testing kits.
